Gifts that Give Back – Summer Gift Guide

Summer time! Time for picnics, BBQs, and going to the beach. It’s also the time for parties for many occasions – birthdays, housewarming, and reunions, to name a few. In this summer Gift Guide, I’ve focused on gifts that give back and are great for the summer, such as nautical-themed jewelry, outdoor gear, and beach accessories. The proceeds from these unique and summery items are donated to charities to support wildlife, humanitarian, and environmental causes. Through your purchase of these gifts that give back, you’ll create positive social change and support companies that are putting purpose over profit.

Panda

Panda bamboo sunglasses and bamboo watches are the perfect statement piece for summer and they’re available for both men and women, making them the perfect go-to gift. These eco-friendly products are made from sustainable bamboo, creating a unique accessory that will turn heads all year long.

My go-to pair of shades for gifts are the Kennedy, which are unisex and fit both narrow and wide faces. The Monroe is another popular choice, is unisex and has a timeless look. Oh, and don’t forget the handy Bamboo sunglasses case!

If you’re stuck on which pair of shades to buy but are a fan of Panda and their gifts that give back, check out their Natural + Cork Bamboo Watch. With a minimalist design fused with sustainable elements, it is always a crowd pleaser.

Panda bamboo sunglasses and bamboo watches are both gifts that give back. Purchase a pair of Panda bamboo sunglasses and Panda will give the “gift of vision” to someone in need. Purchase one of their bamboo watches and Panda will give the “gift of education” to someone in need.

Pura Vida

When I think of summer, I always think of Pura Vida. The company is based in sunny San Diego, they work with artisans in Costa Rica, and the name “Pura Vida” means “pure life” in Spanish, a Costa Rican philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life’s simple treasures. And perhaps most importantly, their bracelets are the perfect beach accessory!

Pura Vida’s bracelets are wax coated, 100% water-proof and handmade. In addition to their bracelets, they offer a collection of beach-themed jewelry (such as their silver wave necklace), beach totes, towels, and clutches.

Ivory Ella

With an entire beach collection, Ivory Ella definitely deserves a spot on this Summer Gift Guide of Gifts that Give Back. Shop their beach collection and you and your friends will be all set for the summer. Grab a pair of their flip-flops, cover up with their tees, pullovers and coverups, put your Ivory Ella towel in your Ivory Ella tote and head out for some summer fun! With bright new colors, these items are perfect for a day at the pool or the beach – and they’re all adorned with their lovable and popular ‘ella’.

My go-to gift Ivory Ella gift for my beach friends is the beach throw. I like it for it’s versatility – it can be hung in a room or used as a beach or festival throw.

Ivory Ella donates 10% of profits to Save the Elephants and other charitable organizations. Ivory Ella’s global mission is to save the elephants, and they seek to inspire, guide, and motivate people to live a life with empathy, creativity, strength, and loyalty. To date, they have donated over $1.2 Million!

Devocean

Devocean offers fun and stylish beach theme jewelry and accessories, including these signature KOA, Abalone, Drift Wood, and Wave Rings. The purchase of these rings contributes to the conservation of Sea Turtles. With your purchase, 20% of net profit is donated to this cause so that Sea Turtles will be able to live healthier and happier lives.

The rings are extremely light, comfortable, and most importantly, unique. My favorite is Devocean’s Sterling Silver Wave Ring. For me, it’s a beautiful wave to show my passion for the ocean and is a reminder of the positive change I’m making for sea turtles.

Faucet Face

One of the best feelings on a hot, summer day is a cool, refreshing beverage. One way to top that is to have it in a glass bottle. Why glass bottles? Because glass doesn’t taint liquids like plastic or metal can, helping your refreshing drink taste fresh! Faucet Face provides stylish glass water bottles to keep you coo, refreshed, hydrated, and even stylish all summer long.

I love giving these bottles as gifts for many reasons! My friends love them, glass bottles don’t have the same chemicals that plastic bottles have, glass bottles are less harmful to the environment than plastic bottles, and each purchase gives back! Through its 1 for 100 program, Faucet Face donates 2.5% of all sales of their Hose Water, Tap is Terrific and Hummingbird Feeder glass water bottles, PLUS, a complete filter for each sale of 5 or more individual bottles to the clean drinking water charity Third Millennium Awakening (TMA). With Faucet Face’s contribution, TMA employs locals in India to create the filters and then distribute them to families in need.

These awesome bottles are available on the Faucet Face website and on Amazon.

Greater Good

With a wide variety of gifts, Greater Good deserves to be on a gift guide for every season. If I’m at a total loss for what type of gift to get someone, I head on over to Greater Good’s network of stores. Seeing as most of my friends are fellow animal lovers, I often find great gift ideas at The Animal Rescue Site, including flip-flops, tie dye tops, tote bags, tank tops, jewelry, and accessories.

You can also find many gifts great for summer at the Greater Good’s Rainforest Site, where a portion of proceeds go to protect wildlife habitat. Some of my favorite gifts on the Rainforest Site are a dragonfly handbag, butterfly tote, sandals, and decorative art. The Rainforest Site also offers an extensive collection of organic and eco-friendly items and products associated with National Geographic.

Greater Good have generated over $45 million in charitable donations through a network of stores that support various causes that benefit the planet, people, and animals. A portion of every purchase is donated to a charity. Many of the items also support specific fair trade or nonprofit associations in addition to the donation.

Eartheasy

Last, but certainly not least on this Summer Gift Guides of Gifts that Give Back is Eartheasy. When it comes to spending time outdoors during the summer, Eartheasy can be the go-to resource. They offer a full selection of items for the yard and garden, water conservation, pest control, and other gifts.

One of their more unique gift item is the Aquafarm. Based on aquaponics, the Aquafarm is an innovative self-cleaning fish tank that grows food! Create your own sustainable, tabletop ecosystem, or give to someone as a unique growing gift.

Their Vertical Gardening Woolly Pockets is another popular gift for people with a green thumb. With Wally Five, you get five times the planting power! The Wally Five is a hanging wall planter with five pockets for you to fill with plants and create your own flourishing living wall. Use Wally to make an indoor kitchen herb garden and an outdoor edible farm.

Eartheasy plants a tree for every order placed at Earthasy.com through their partnership with the Trees for the Future Foundation. They also employ numerous sustainability initiatives through their business practices and partner with TerraPass to sponsor clean energy and carbon reduction processes.
