Six Big Hearted Companies Making a Difference for Children

This may sound like an 80’s song, but children are our future. They’re the next generation. They’re going to be setting (and perhaps breaking) the rules, making a difference, and shaping society. Therefore it only makes sense that we take care of our children now. We have to educate them and look out for them so they’re knowledgeable and fit enough to shape the future.

Here are six companies that are making a difference for children by supporting causes that look out for the health and well-being of children.

Pura Vida

Pura Vida currently offers two colorful and bright charity bracelets to support children. 10% of the profits from their Joyful Heart bracelet supports the Joyful Heart Foundation. The Joyful Heart Foundation seeks healing and justice for survivors of child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence. They strive to bring awareness to these issues.

Pura Vida donates 10% of the profits from their Anti-Child Abuse Awareness bracelet to the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. Aimed at improving the lives of local abused children, the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center also coordinates the investigation and prosecution of the most severe cases of child abuse in Dallas County, Texas. They’re making a difference for children in a big way!

With Pura Vida, you can show you’re fun and carefree side while supporting two charities that are protecting our kids.

Sock Panda

I just love Sock Panda! Their fun, colorful socks brighten my day! While their socks are fun and a great conversation starter, Sock Panda has a much larger mission – making a difference to children and underprivileged people in need. They’re also a one-for-one business, which means they donate socks to those in need with every new or renewed subscriber. As of October 2015, Sock Panda has donated nearly 50,000 socks to under-privileged classrooms, homeless shelters, family clinics, and low-income senior centers.

Sock Panda is also creating positive social change by being actively involved in the community and participating in the Venice Arts Art Walk with Imagination Station.

In celebration of the 4th of July

Sock Panda celebrated National Reading Month with a new line called Panda Pals. Panda Pals includes fun things for children, such as brain teasers, games, stickers and more. With a subscription to Panda Pals, each month your child will receive two pairs of character socks and an activity book focused on learning and play. Every month features a unique Panda Pal theme. March’s theme was Reading to support National Reading Month.

Just Shoes for Kids

As the name suggest, Just Shoes for Kids is all about kids. Both their online shoe store and mission focus solely on children. Just Shoes for Kids provides an experience in shoe shopping that gives back and makes a difference to the local community. For every pair of shoes purchased, they donate $1 to the ELIJA Foundation. The ELIJA Foundation works to help and support those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as their families, caregivers, and educators. The Foundation is focused on improving the quality of programs and services available to children with autism.

Shop Just Shoes for Kids for a pleasant shoe-shopping experience from the comfort of your own home while making a difference for children and helping improve the quality of life for children suffering from Autism.

Panda

Want to give the gifts of vision and education while sporting a unique and stylish fashion accessory? If so, Panda has what you’re looking for.

Through their collection of bamboo watches, Panda provides a “gift of education” to those in need. For every Panda Watch purchased, Panda helps provide education to children in need. They do this through their partnership with Pencils of Promise. Pencils of Promise builds schools and education programs for small villages all over the world. And they’re making a difference for children! Pencils of Promise students score 3x higher on language literacy tests and show increased engagement.

Fused with sustainable elements, the Panda Watch represents exceptional quality and design. And the purpose behind it represents a true commitment to our children and our future.

Panda’s commitment to social change doesn’t end with their watches. For every pair of their bamboo sunglasses purchased, Panda provides a “gift of vision” to those in need. Through collaboration with Optometry Giving Sight, Panda covers the cost of an eye exam and prescription glasses. Panda’s donations also help cover the cost of building optometry schools and training people to become optometrists.

Greater Good

Greater Good is one of my favorite companies to write about here on Purpose over Profit – and for good reason! Their network creates social change across a spectrum of causes. Many of the sites in the Greater Good network are aimed at creating positive social change and making a difference for children. Their sites contain hundreds of themed items with 3 – 50% of revenue going to charity partners.

A quick visit to these Greater Good sites will provide you with hundreds of gifts and accessories that relate to the cause you’re choosing to support.

Good Spread

Good Spread is tackling nutrition head on. They partner with MANA to provide a “miracle peanut butter substance” to children suffering from malnutrition. This “miracle peanut butter substance” is a Ready-to-use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). It is basically a vitamin fortified lifesaving peanut butter. When you buy a packet or jar of Good Spread, they give an equivalent amount of RUTF to a severely malnourished child.

Good Spread is an all-natural peanut butter mixed with honey, a touch of salt, and 100% sustainably sourced palm oil. It sounds tasty for sure, but are you a little hesitant to try new food? I get it. I’m the same way. Just because one person (in this case me) says it is good, that doesn’t mean you’ll like it, right? But what if you throw 100 other people’s opinions in the mix? If that sounds good to you, head on over to Good Spread on Amazon where there are over 100 reviews for you to check out.

Did I mention they also have chocolate pretzel peanut butter?? Yum!

Good Spread is a healthy snack with an admirable cause and a company creating real social impact by helping save lives of our most precious resource – our children.
